Using FlashFXP for FTP/SFTP

The following guide will show you the proper way to setup a FTP or SFTP connection to your (mt) Media Temple services using FlashFXP.

FTP Setup Instructions

  1. Start FlashFXP
  2. Click on Sites
  3. Click on Site Manage

  4. Click on New Site

  5. Type in your domain then click OK

  6. Fill out the settings in the General Tab

    Site Name:

    (gs) - s#####.gridserver.com
    (ss) - ss##.shared.server-system.net
    (dv) - xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

    IP Address:

    (gs) - s#####.gridserver.com
    (ss) - ss##.shared.server-system.net
    (dv) - xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

    Port: 21 for FTP, 22 for SFTP

    User Name:

    (gs) - serveradmin@mt-example.com
    (ss) - mt-example.com
    (dv) - username

    Anonymous: Do NOT check

    Password:

    (gs) - Please see Server Administrator in your AccountCenter.
    (ss) - Please see Server Details in AccountCenter.
    (dv) - Click Setup under Hosting for your domain.

    Remote Path:

    (gs) - Please see Server Administrator in your AccountCenter.
    (ss) - Please see Server Details in AccountCenter.
    (dv) - Click Setup under Hosting for your domain.

    Local Path:  N/A

    Proxy Server: Default or None

    Time Zone: Unknown Time Zone/ Use Server Time

    Notes: N/A
  7. Fill out the settings in the Option Tab:

    Use site ip for passive mode connections:

    Disable "Force Active Mode to use this IP" for this site":

    Send anti-idle keep alives:

  8. Click Connect to finish.

SFTP Setup Instructions

 The only difference in setting Flashftp to use SFTP is in step 6 change the port # to 22.
