How can I change my email password?

Overview

Whether you're doing your every-six-months security update, troubleshooting an email problem, or just feel like typing something different when you log in, you will occasionally need to update your email password. This article provides step-by-step instructions for doing just that.

This guide will show a Server Administrator how to change the password for their Email Users.

TIP:

Instructions for your (gs) Grid-Service

  1. Log into the AccountCenter.
  2. Click on your primary domain.
  3. Click on Email Users, see Figure 1 below:

  4. Click on edit for the user(s) whose password you wish to change. See Figure 2 for the location of this tool:

  5. Type in the new password under the Email user settings. Be sure to use a strong password.See Figure 3 as an example:

  6. Click Save to finish.
  7. For a quick test of your new password, try using it to log into webmail at http://example.com/webmail/. Replace example.com with your own domain name.

Instructions

The password is set within the Plesk Control Panel. Be sure to use a strong password, and change it regularly. If you need to change your password, please do the following:

  1. Log into the Plesk Control Panel for your domain. See Figure 1:

    If you log into Plesk with the admin user, you will be in the Server Administration Panel by default. To get to the Control Panel, click on Domains, then on the Control Panel link next to your domain.

    You can also create a user that will log into the Control Panel by default, which will save you a few clicks on day-to-day webmaster tasks. See Control Panel user.

  2. Click on the Mail tab at the top.
  3. Click on your email address, see Figure 2.

  4. Enter your new password twice. Be sure to use a strong password. See Figure 3.

  5. Click OK to save your edits.
  1. Log into Plesk.
  2. Click on Domains.
  3. Click on the domain.
  4. Click on Email.
  5. Find the email address and click on edit.
  6. Change your password, then click on save at the bottom. Be sure to use a strong password.



Note: If the user knows their current password, they can choose to reset it by logging into the Plesk Control Panel using their own credentials.
