Getting started with your MySQL GridContainer
Overview
The MySQL GridContainers are designed for customers who demand guaranteed performance and absolute reliability for their hosted database systems. For more general details on our MySQL GridContainers, please see our (gs) Features page.
Below is a table that lists disk space, RAM size, MySQL user limits, and MySQL connection limits for each type of MySQL pool/container offered by (mt) Media Temple.

* Note: These connection limits are the default assigned. You may change these values in my.conf your AccountCenter. For more information, please see: Edit my.cnf for MySQL GridContainer. Increasing this number may cause adverse performance issues so edit with caution.
Advanced Features of the (gs) MySQL GridContainers
Adding additional MySQL users
- Log into your AccountCenter.
- Click on the Admin button for your (gs) account or click on your primary domain.
- Click on Manage Databases.
- Click on Global Settings.
- Under Add A Database User, enter a username and password. Be sure to use a strong password.
Changing permissions on a MySQL user
- Log into your AccountCenter.
- Click on the Admin button for your (gs) account or click on your primary domain.
- Click on Manage Databases.
- Click on Global Settings.

Click on the Permissions button for the user which you want to edit permissions. Permissions can be set on a per database basis:
- No Access
- Read Only
- Read/Write
Changing the MySQL container size
- Log into your AccountCenter.
- Click on the Admin button for your (gs) account or click on your primary domain.
- Click on Manage Databases.
- Click on MySQL Container.
- Clicking on the Upgrade/Downgrade button allows to increase or decrease allowed memory to your MySQL Container.
Rebooting the MySQL Container
- Log into your AccountCenter.
- Click on the Admin button for your (gs) account or click on your primary domain.
- Click on Manage Databases.
- Click on MySQL Container.
- Clicking on the Reboot Container button will cause the MySQL Container to shut down and reboot. This can be helpful if your GridContainer is frozen or locked up.
Repairing database tables
- Log into your AccountCenter.
- Click on the Admin button for your (gs) account or click on your primary domain.
- Click on Manage Databases.
- Click on MySQL Container.
- Clicking on the Repair Tables button will repair all tables in all of your databases with just on click.
Query Analyzer
- Log into your AccountCenter.
- Click on the Admin button for your (gs) account or click on your primary domain.
- Click on Manage Databases.
- Click on MySQL Container.
- This is a two-step process: First, click on the Analyze Slow Queries button -- a progress bar will display, when the report is completed the page will refresh.

After the Analyze Query Report is complete, you can click on the Show Last Query Report link to see your report.
- You also can print or download your Slow Query Report.
