How do I restore my server using a Snapshot Backup?

Overview

If your server configuration has become corrupted, compromised by hackers, or if you happen to accidentally lose important data, you can restore your server to a previous state using the Snapshot Backup tool.

NOTE:

You can purchase up to 5 total Snapshot Backup slots via the AccountCenter. For instructions, please read this article: Purchase a Snapshot Backup.

CAUTION:

  • You can only restore via the Snapshot Backup if you have made a previous snapshot backup.
  • Restored data will revert to the date and time of the snapshot backup.
  • All data on the server since the backup was created will be lost.

Instructions

  1. Sign into the Plesk Power User Panel as admin or root. You can access this panel directly at https://example.com:4643, or you can:
    1. Log into the Server Administration Panel.
    2. Click on Tools & Utilities in the left sidebar. See Figure 1:

    3. Scroll down to the Server Management section, then click on the Manage Your Container link. See Figure 2:

      Your Power User Panel will open in a new tab or window.

  2. Click on the Maintenance tab on the left. See Figure 3:

  3. Select the correct backup from the list, then click on Restore Container. This will wipe the current content of your server and replace it with the backup content. See Figure 4:

  1. Log into Plesk.
  2. Click on Virtuozzo, then click on Maintenance; see Figure 1.

  3. Select the check box for the snapshot you would like to restore from and click Restore VPS; see Figure 2:

  1. Log into your (ve) Power Panel. For instructions and screenshots, please see: How to access your (ve) Power Panel.
  2. From the left navigation menu, click on Maintenance.
  3. Under the Backups tab, check the box next the back up you'd like to use. This will wipe the current content of your server and replace it with the backup content.
  4. Click the Restore Container button.
  5. You will receive a confirmation message that your restoration has been scheduled. For additional information, you may click the Details.

Your restoration will now start. It may take some time to complete, depending on how much data is included in your backup.

NOTE:

All data between the time you made your last backup and now will be lost.
