Settings for Checking Email on the iPhone

Your iPhone checks for new email whenever you open Mail. You may also set Mail to regularly check for email and download your messages even when you do not have Mail open. "Push" Email is not yet available on the iPhone for mail accounts other than Yahoo. "Push" is when new email is automatically delivered to your iPhone upon it's arrival, similar to Blackberry's service.

To set the iPhone to automatically download new messages periodically: From the Home screen choose Settings -> Mail -> Auto-Check. Then tap Manual, Every 15 minutes, Every 30 minutes, or Every hour.
