Overview

Coda is a Mac OS X application which allows you connect to any (mt) Media Temple service using FTP, SFTP, and Terminal. After downloading Coda from Panic.com please follow the installation instructions.

The following tutorial is provided as a courtesy to our customers to help you configure your FTP software to work with (mt) Media Temple's hosting solutions. Third-party software can not be supported directly by (mt) Media Temple. If you have further questions about configuring Coda, please visit http://www.panic.com/coda/support.html.

Requirements

Before you start, be sure you have these handy:

  • Server name: Your access domain or example.com. example.com or your IP address.
  • Username: Your FTP username.
  • Password: Your FTP password.

Instructions

TIP:

We have learned that Coda users have had much more success connecting to their server using SFTP on port 22 instead of using a standard FTP connection.

Once Coda is installed, we can create a bookmark or site:

  1. Open up Coda.
  2. Click on Add Site.

    add_bookmark

  3. Fill in Site Settings:

    site_settings site_settings

    • Nickname: s00000.gridserver.com
    • Nickname: example.com or your IP address
    • Root URL: s00000.gridserver.com
    • Root URL: example.com or your IP address
    • Local URL (optional): N/A
    • Remote Root (optional): /domains/example.com/html/ httpdocs/
    • Local Root (optional): N/A
  4. Fill in Connecting Settings:

    • Server: s00000.gridserver.comexample.com or your IP address
    • Username: example.comdomainuser
    • Password: Your FTP password.
    • Port: 21 for FTP, 22 for SFTP
    • Protocol: FTP
    • List Encoding (Optional): N/A
      Please check "Use passive mode for data transfers."
  5. Fill in Terminal Settings:

    terminal_settings terminal_settings

    • SSH Server: s00000.gridserver.comexample.com or your IP address
    • Port: 22
    • Username: example.comdomainuser
    • Password: Your FTP password.
  6. Click "Save" and double-click on bookmark icon to connect.
