Using Cyberduck for FTP/SFTP

Overview

Cyberduck is an open-source application used for FTP and SFTP on Mac OS X. It can be used to connect to any of (mt) Media Temple services. The first thing you need to do is download a copy at [1]. Please follow the installation steps to install the application on your computer.

The following tutorial is provided as a courtesy to our customers to help you configure your ftp software to work with (mt) Media Temple's hosting solutions.

Third-party software can not be supported directly by (mt) Media Temple. If you have further questions about configuring Cyberduck, please visit http://cyberduck.ch/help/en/.

Instructions

Once Cyberduck is installed, we can create a bookmark.

  1. Click on the "+" sign at the bottom left corner to create a bookmark, see Figure 1 below:

  2. Use the following settings as illustrated in Figure 2:

    • Nickname: s00000.gridserver.com
    • Nickname: example.com or your IP address
    • Protocol: FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
    • Server: s00000.gridserver.comexample.com or your IP address
    • Port: 21 for FTP, 22 for SFTP
    • Username: example.comdomainuser
  3. Under "More Options", change the following:
    Path (optional): N/A
    Connect Mode: Passive
    Encoding: Default
    Download Folder: Choose a folder on your computer you wish to download files.
    Transfer Files: Default
    Web URL: example.com
    Notes (optional): N/A
  4. Save and then double-click on the bookmark to connect.
