Using Fetch for FTP/SFTP
Fetch is a Mac OS X application used to connect to a server using FTP or SFTP. It can be used with all (mt) Media Temple services. The first thing you need to do is download a copy of Fetch at http://fetchsoftworks.com/. Please follow the installation steps to install the application on your computer.
NOTE:
- Text in this color is used as an example. Please be sure to replace this text with the proper information for your site or server. Replace ##### with your site number.
- The following tutorial is provided as a courtesy to our customers to help you configure your ftp software to work with (mt) Media Temple's hosting solutions.
- Third-party software can not be supported directly by (mt) Media Temple. If you have further questions about configuring fetch please visit http://fetchsoftworks.com/Support/
- Click on File > New Connection.
- Fill in the following settings (the below settings will work for the (gs) platform):
Hostname:
(gs) - s#####.gridserver.com
(ss) - ss##.shared.server-system.net
(dv) - xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Username:
(gs) - serveradmin@mt-example.com
(ss) - mt-example.com
(dv) - username
Connect using: FTP
Enable encryption: N/A (Should be enabled when using SFTP)
Password:
(gs) - Please see Server Administrator in your AccountCenter.
(ss) - Please see Server Details in AccountCenter.
(dv) - Click Setup under Hosting for your domain.
Add to keychain (optional): N/A
- Click on the Arrow and fill in the extra settings:
Initial folder (optional): Please see System Paths.
Port: 21 for FTP, 22 for SFTP (SFTP is recommended)
Try to connect "________" times (optional): Type in 1 if you have issues connecting.
