Backing up a (dv) using the Snapshot Backup Tool

  • Applies to: All (dv)

  • Difficulty: Easy

  • Time needed: 5 minutes

  • Tools needed: snapshot backup

The (dv) Snapshot Backups add-on should be used when you are about to make a big change on your server, such as upgrading a version of PHP or MySQL, or installing a new component into the system.  It's also an effective low-level, system-wide backup tool. It is generally very good practice to keep a fresh Snapshot Backup on a monthly or weekly basis in case your server configuration were to become corrupted, compromised by hackers, or if you happen to accidentally lose important data.

Please see our article on (dv) Backup Options for more information.

NOTE:

You can purchase your first or any additional (dv) Snapshot Backup add-on by submitting a new Support Request from the AccountCenter. You are allowed a total of 5 (dv) Snapshot Backup add-on's for each (dv) server.

How do I create a (dv) Snapshot Backup:

  1. Login to Plesk.
  2. Click on Virtuozzo then click on Maintenance:
    Plesk_8.6.0_1
  3. Click on New backup:
    Plesk_8.6.0_3

Your backup will then start, and may take some time to finish depending on how much data you have on your server.
